Speaker: Dr Saurab Sharma is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow studying pain at the University of New South Wales and Neuroscience Research Australia (Australia). He is supported by the International Association for the Study of Pain John Bonica Fellowship. His PhD which aimed to improve pain research and care in low- and middle-income countries received the exceptional thesis award (New Zealand, 2020). He has around 10 years of clinical and teaching experience in Nepal (2008-2017). He has published >60 peer-reviewed papers including papers in premier pain and physiotherapy journals. He is one of the Commissioners for the Lancet Commission on Osteoarthritis. He has also contributed to the World Health Organisation's initiatives to develop rehabilitation interventions for osteoarthritis. He is an (Associate) Editor for Physiotherapy, the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy, and Pain Research Forum. He is an active member of three International Association for the Study of Pain committees/task forces including the Global Alliance of Partners for Pain Advocacy, Global Year Task Forces 2022 and 2023, Early Career Presidential Task Force, and Pain, Mind & Movement SIG. He is currently leading a Consortium for low back pain in low- and middle-income countries with members from >30 countries.
