IHC2005, the first in Asia, opens the door to more such opportunities by allowing participants to realise that Japan is not as distant and expensive to reach as its current reputation holds. However true this may have been in the past, in recent years both airfares and hotel costs are competitive with those elsewhere. Large-scale events such as Japan and Korea's hosting of the 2002 World Cup have shown that not only is it easy to make the trip, but the experience is thoroughly worthwhile. We plan to provide additional information on costs of transport and accommodation in the hope of convincing sponsors and participants that indeed, Asia, with its sizable portion of the world's population, and Japan, in particular, are worth visiting.
