Purpose and Objectives of the Congress: This is a multidisciplinary meeting that will be of interest to basic scientists, physicians, psychologists, dentists, nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists, and other health professionals. It is useful for those just entering the fields of pain research and treatment and for those interested in updating their skills and learning about promising research and treatment possibilities. The scientific program is intended to provide delegates with an overview of the state-of-the-art of a wide range of topics in the areas of acute, chronic, and cancer pain; to provide practical reviews of current research and therapies in these areas; and to enable delegates to participate in formal and informal discussions with international experts.
