PAIN MANAGEMENT CAMP

IASP Southeast Asia Pain Management Camp

The Malaysian Association for the Study of Pain (MASP) is organizing the 5th IASP-Southeast Asian Pain Management Camp from April 7th to 11th at Damai, Sarawak. This is held just before the 8th ASEAPS Congress which will be held from 11th to 14th April 2019 at Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Since 2011, 4 Pain Management Camps have been successfully carried out in Thailand, Singapore, Philippines and Myanmar respectively, in conjunction with the Biennial ASEAPS Congress. So far, approximately 120 young healthcare professionals from Southeast Asia and other Asian countries learning about multidisciplinary pain management at the 5-day camp, and these individuals have returned to their countries to promote pain management services and pain education.

The IASP and ASEAPS are pleased to invite young healthcare professionals in ASEAN countries, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Nepal who are working in pain management and related fields to apply for the IASP Southeast Asia Pain Management Camp 2019.

To apply, complete the online application in English and upload a CV with a recent photo, Doctor of Medicine or Allied Health Sciences Certificates, Specialty Board Certificate (e.g. in Anesthesiology, Rehabilitation Medicine etc.), and names and email addresses of two references (at least one should be from your institution or direct supervisor). Applications close on December 14th 2018 and successful applicants will be informed by February 1st 2019.

All selected applicants will receive a grant that covers the costs of registration, ground transportation, refreshments, and the course syllabus. Successful applicants from non-ASEAPS countries will also receive five nights’ accommodation at the camp venue and a travel grant of up to USD$500.

The final day of the Pain Camp will be attendance at the the Pain Refresher course held as a pre-congress activity of the 8th ASEAPS Congress. However, the grant for successful applicants DOES NOT include registration fees and accommodation for the main 8th ASEAPS Congress.
