ASEAPS Young Scholar

Education Grant



ASEAPS 2019 is offering 100 education grants for young talents with an interest in Pain Management in the ASEAN region to attend the 8th ASEAPS Congress, Malaysia 2019.

Each awardee will receive the following:-

Highly Subsidized Registration Rate

Free shared accommodation for 3 nights at the selected hotel for the ASEAPS Young Scholar programme.

Eligibility

  1. Individuals must be citizens of South-East Asian countries only.
  2. Individuals should be Specialists or Trainees in the fields listed below, with a special interest in Pain Management:
    • Anaesthesia
    • General Surgery
    • Neurology / Neurosurgery
    • Orthopaedics
    • Paediatrics
    • Psychology
    • Physiotherapy
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Pharmacy
    • Nursing
  3. Individuals must be age 40 years old or less on 31st December 2019.
  4. Individuals must have submitted an abstract for the Free Paper session prior to applying for the education grant.

Applicants who have received other sources of funding for the 8th ASEAPS Congress, Malaysia 2019 will not be eligible for this grant. If an applicant receives an offer of funding from another source, the applicant must write to the Congress Secretariat, withdrawing their grant application, so the opportunity may be given to other candidates.

Evaluation

All applications will be evaluated by a special review committee based on abstract review scores and financial needs.

Application

  1. Create an account at www.aseaps2019.com.
  2. Submit an abstract via the abstract submission portal.
  3. Submit the following on the ASEAPS Young Scholar portal: -
    • Updated curriculum vitae (CV)
    • Letter from Head of Department of your institution confirming your position in the department.
    • Softcopy of the front page of your passport (Malaysian identification card (I.C.) accepted for Malaysian applicants).
  4. Application needs to be completed before 15th December 2018 via the online application platform on the Congress website. Offline applications are not accepted.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. The results of the ASEAPS Young Scholar Education Grant will be released after 31st December 2018.
  2. Successful applicants will be required to pay an administrative fee of MYR 150 (Malaysian applicant) or USD 50 (non-Malaysian applicant) before 15th January 2019. The payment may be made online at the Congress website. The administrative fee is non-refundable.
  3. If the organiser does not receive your complete payment of MYR 150 / USD 50 by the deadline, the Organising Committee will take it that you are not attending the Congress. The grant will be given to the next deserving applicant.
  4. All ASEAPS Young Scholar Education Grant recipients must attend all 3 days of the Congress and all ASEAPS Young Scholar social programmes.
  5. This Grant is non-transferable. If an ASEAPS Young Scholar grant recipient is unable to make it after accepting the grant, they must write to the secretariat by 31st January 2019. The grant will then be assigned to another applicant.
  6. The ASEAPS Young Scholar Education Grant does not include pre-congress workshops.
  7. The Organising Committee have the right to withdraw the ASEAPS Young Scholar Education Grant without advance notice in the event of extenuating circumstances beyond their control.
  8. The Review Committee’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into by the reviewers in relation to their decision.
